Hi Everyone. This is JOS reporter Kyoko.
Did you have a good Silver week?? It was the first year to have 5 days consecutive holidays in September.(Actually I didn't know that it is called "Silver week" first.)
I heard that next time we will have this long holiday in September is 5 years later, and after that 11 years later.
Anyway, this time I interviewed Chris.
He is from New Zealand, and has been in Japan for 3 years. He lives in Narita-city in Chiba, and works as a instructor.
Q. Why did you come to Japan?
I wanted to work in Japan, and use my Japanese skills.
Q. What made you surprised most in Japan?
They build the best cars and they can't drive them!
Q. Do you have any problem living in Japan? How do you solve that problem?
Yes, I've had some problems. I hate being called American, so I'm not afraid to tell people I'm not.
K--I felt same when I was in US. I hated being misunderstood as other Asians
Q. How do you spend your off time?
Riding my bike, drinking with my friends, and listening to music.
Q. Do you have any area or shops where you go often?
I go Beisia supermarket, and the Barge Inn pub.
K--The Barge Inn is a British pub in Narita. My friend told me that he goes there often too, and it's nice.Seems imported beers available as domestic beears and other drinks. I want to go there sometimewhen I get a chance![]()
Q. What is your favorite in Japan? Foods, Places, anything is okay.
Foods-I like Karaage (fried chicken), Katsu-don (fried pork cooked with eggs on the rice), Piza-man (piza sauce in a steamed bun),
Purin (pudding), Yakisoba (fried noodle), and Okonomiyaki (vegitable pancake).
Restaurants-I like Anrakutei (yakiniku-bbq), Cho-shi maru (kaiten sushi-sushi plates moves on the belt conveyor(?))
Places-Ikebukuro, Shibuya, Osaka, Sendai, and Hokkaido.
Thank you very much Chris! Sounds like you like Japanese foods
When I told my foreign friends about Kaiten-sushi, they got surprised. But if they try, I think they will like it like you!
Hi. I’m a JOS reporter Kyoko.
The very first person I interviewed is Aaron. He is from New Zealand and has been in Japan for 4 years. He is an English teacher, but he also works as a photographer and journalist!
Q. Why did you come to Japan?
I came for my overseas experience. Also, I was learning Japanese at college in New Zealand, so I wanted to improve my Japanese language ability.
Q. How do you spend your off time?
I spent time attending motorsport events, converting them for a magazine as well as relaxing with friends. Also I’m a keen downhill mountain biker, so spend a lot of time on the bike too.
Q. Do you have any problem living in Japan?
It’s not a major issue, but change of diet, needing to improvise with daily eating.
Q. Do you have any area or shops where you go often?
I use Yodobashi camera for keeping up with the latest developments in photography however online shopping for the actual purchases is the best in my opinion. Akihabara is as always competitive for all the gear I need.
Q. What is your favorite in Japan? Foods, places, anything is okay.
I especially like Hokkaido (Obihiro area) as well as Sendai!
Q. What do you want to do in the future?
I want to become a full time photographer owning my own company following my passion which is motorsport.
Q. Could you introduce me one of your friends?
Yes of course. I introduce you my friend Chris.
Thank you very much Aaron! I’m looking forward to your activity in the future as a photographer!
Next time I will interview Chris
Hi.My name is Kyoko. From this week, I start this interview blog as a JOS reporter
Every time I interview foreign residents in Japan. Hopefully I want to get to know many people through this interview!
